What it dookie?!

So it’s been a minute since I’ve been on here.  There’s been quite a bit going on, both positive and negative….but ultimately, things are steady moving forward.  Let me share a bit with you…

For one, everything that I’ve rushed for the new production run during the past 5 weeks, was pointless.  These “hiccups” that I’ve mentioned before have actually been pretty consistent, so things have been getting delayed and slowed in quite the frustrating manner.  Anyways, 5 out of the 8 new designs are printed so far and I hope to have the rest done this coming week.  I apologize for the extended wait!

Secondly, say hello to your two, new and exclusive partners to SP…ME of course, and the homie Steve.  Our third, and now former partner, has pulled out for “personal reasons”.  Dealing with this process has caused some friction in our momentum, thus contributing to some of the delay in production.  But like I said, we are still steady on the move, so not to worry!

In review, 3 of the new designs include “city map shirts” (like the LA one) for SD, SF, and NY, available in their sports team colors accordingly.  They are FIRE!

There is one piece in particular that I’d really like to share with you now.  Titled “Ressurection”, it is a piece that I created to express my thoughts on the current state of hip-hop.  I am a die-hard fan of hip hop and consider myself a true part of the culture.  I’m 26 and I’ve been listening to rap for almost 20 years (that’s on my mama).  So I genuinely feel like a pioneer.  True, at 7-8 years old, I didn’t fully comprehend everything these dudes were talking about, but the shit was HOT!  Haha.

I still remember some of my first cassette tapes…Run DMC, NWA, Too Short, Ice-T, Kid n Play, 3rd Bass, Big Daddy Kane, Fresh Prince and DJ Jazz, LL…just to name a few.  Without a doubt, much of this material was definitely inappropriate for a kid to be listening to, but big thanks to grandma, a lot of it was very easily attainable.

But enough of the mumbo jumbo…my point is, if most of this bullshit on the radio and the mainstream doesn’t make you sick, then you’re not a true fan of hip hop.  I’m sorry.  I’m not knocking your taste, the music, nor the artists…and I totally understand that things change with time, but this is NOT what I had in mind.  It’s just NOT hip hop to me and it pisses me off to see it categorized that way.  Binary Star said it best…”there’s hip HOP and there’s hip POP”.  All this shit is just pop music; it’s what’s trendy, what’s hot, and what’s hip.

So in respects to all the old school cats, the newer generations that know what’s up, and all the independant and underground camps doing real music, here’s a sneak peak of the piece.  Oh,  and I couldn’t have done it without my graphics man JOE…he is my “digital translator” and DAMN good at it!

So there it is.  Do you like it?  Click and enlarge that shit so you can take a closer look.  Honestly, I don’t really care whether you like it or not.  You’d be one of very few.  The shit is hot.  Haha.

Well, I’ma wrap it up for now.  There’s actually something I really wanted to get off my chest, but I’ll save it for it for later.  Plus the food high from my dinner is off the charts, so I need to relax.  Wanna see what I ate?

Double-double with onions, animal fries, and YES, a DIET coke…HA!  Talk to y’all later.

Peace, “BK”

So I wake up Sunday morning to an array of bright lights and a headache like no other. I’m dehydrated and cold. As I’m fighting off the most horrible feelings of nausea, I realize that I’ve been sleeping on the cold, hard bathroom floor all night. How the hell did I get there? I do not remember. Shit, I don’t even remember walking home (it’s just a 2 minute walk home from the homies’). But I do remember there was a lot of alcohol haha.

Anyways, so I’m feeling like shit, right? But then I look out my balcony and all shittiness flies out of the window. I’m laughing my ass off. My truck had been sabotaged; Lakers and Kobe shit written all over it with purple and yellow paint. See, I am pretty much the only Laker-hater around my neck of the woods. Actually, I’m not even a Laker “hater”, nor am I even a Boston fan (although I’ve always loved KG ). I just have a personal vendetta against Kobe and my friends all know this.

Yes, he’s an incredible player and bla bla bla…I know this. I’ve never knocked his game. He’s the shit, nobody can deny that. But like I said, it’s something personal and here’s an idea of why. I’ve been a die hard Shaq fan since the 5th grade. I can still hear David Stern’s tired ass voice announcing, “With the first pick in the 1992 NBA draft, the Orlando Magic select Shaquille O’neal from Louisiana State University…” But yea, his career is coming to an end and it’ll be a bittersweet moment for me when he announces his retirement.

It’s all good tho, cuz there is a new king…King James. Lebron is the TRUTH!! Hahaha…check out my truck!!

Pretty good, huh? I thought it was hilarious. They must’ve been pretty damn salty after realizing the series was over after game 4.Due to specific circumstances, the number of suspects is very limited, but the culprits have not revealed themselves yet…probably because they’re afraid of retaliation…pussies.  There is no claim to such greatness…how sad. I truly have a loss of respect for them on that part.

Anyhow, the 4 new shirts are available for purchase on our webstore!!!  And don’t forget to stay tuned for the 8 new-new shirts. I’ll keep you posted!

For one, I’d like to let all you ladies know that, yes, I know the printing is a bit fucked up on the tank tops.  I meant to address this issue earlier, but I put it off until now because it makes my temper boil every time I think about it.  Basically, the text (Sanz Pareil Clothing) was printed a bit low on the tank, so when you put it on it doesn’t exactly sit “on” the proper area, if ya know what I mean hehe.  I assure you, I specifically pointed out to my printer where it was to be placed.  But to my surprise, when I picked up them up, my head was ready to explode as I realized they were not in proper position.  I apologize.  For that reason, I will not be selling them thru our webstore, but of course they are absolutely free if you see me! :)

Secondly, I’d just like to let you know that there have been some hiccups in the current production run, so the newest designs will be out just a tad bit later than expected.  These hiccups have also made other areas of my operation difficult as well.  For example, the previous run of the 4 still-very-new designs have not gone up on the webstore yet.  BUT, they should be up within the next few days.  I’ve finally managed to have a “photo shoot” in my room, so that my web guy can stick em in the store.  So stay tuned!!

Well I guess that’s about it for now…been busy as hell…doing like 30 people’s jobs…I assure you I’ve been on my grind.  I need some mo’ fuckin’ interns!!  If you’re interested, get at me.  I currently operate out of beautiful OC, but have plans to set up shop somewhere in LA towards the end of the summer.

I’ll be back!

I use 87 octane in my SUV and $100 won’t even get me a full tank!! This shit is ridiculous. Remember when gas was less than a dollar a gallon?? Remember when we were bitchin’ when it went up to two dollars?? Shit, I’d be happy at three dollars a gallon, and we thought THAT was ridiculous…

Anyways, I passed by “MK TACO”, (the Mexican, Korean, and Chinsese fast food spot that I posted a picture of in last night’s blog entry) again today, and boy was I wrong. It is definitely NOT a failed business…that shit was as open wide as Jenna Jameson’s thighs. As many times as I’ve driven through that intersection (Alameda and Olympic), I wonder why I never noticed it. I will have to check that place out soon!

Well, I’ma be busy as hell until this weekend, so check out this music video for now. If you don’t know OPTIMUS by now, here’s a street video for one of the singles, “Pot of Rain”. Click the link below…I tried embedding it into the post, but gave up…I need to find out how to do that. The video for “On the Grind”, which was shot the other weekend (the one I was at), should be released sometime this month.  There’s an old video for it already, so don’t get it mixed up.  The new version is coming soon!

03  Jun
I’m back!

What’s up people?!

I apologize for having been out of touch, but yes (as usual), it’s been a crazy past 2 weeks.

If you’ve been keeping up with my blog, you already know that I’ve been planning to push out 8 more designs over the next month, or so. Well, turns out my screen printer came up on a major job for some heavy clientèle, so my deadline has been cut short and the new prints should be out in about 2 weeks!! So go figure; I’ve been driving around and guzzling gas all over this mother fucker, BUT I’m not trippin’ cuz these new designs are FIRE!! And yea, I know I always say that, but it’s true…what else can I say? Haha.

To add to the stresses that come along with having a deadline cut waaay short, me and couple friends got into a car accident the Saturday night before Memorial Day. Just as we were nearing the Sunset exit, northbound on the 101, the car in front of us stopped abruptly cuz of the traffic ahead. Well, we had plenty of time and space to safely stop behind them, but about 5 seconds later…BAM!! We get rear-ended by this full-size GMC van, which plunged us into the Integra in front of us. I mean, we REALLY got banged…the poor old, one-eyed hillbilly must’ve just zoned out and coasted into us at about 30 mph (bye bye LJ’s accord). The damage is MUCH worse than it looks in the photo…and look at the fucking monster that rammed us…

FORTUNATELY, there were no serious injuries, or ER visits, but the 4 of us did get a good dose of whiplash. It’s been quite the challenge trying to keep up with my chiro visits while maintaining production for SP…not to mention, lifting and hauling boxes and shit around with a sore neck and back. I must admit, however, the incident was quite an eye opener. Although I was involved in what should have been a deadly car accident when I was about 15 (which made the front page of the town paper, btw), I was much too young at the time to realize what I had actually walked away from. But at 26, I fully realize what our rather “small” accident could’ve potentially been.

Not that I’ve been oblivious to this fact, but I’ve simply rediscovered that life is so damn short and unpredictable. Live your life and live it right before your time is up. If you want something, make it happen. And no offense to anyone when I say this, but to me, “destiny” is just a word that was made for the weak…life is how YOU handle it and what YOU make it…ya feel?

Anyhow, my bad for all the serious talk…had to let it out :)

On a brighter note, congrats to my boy “Wil”, his new wife, and his baby to come!! I actually had to drive down to O’side for the wedding the day after the accident haha. Small, but beautiful wedding on the beach at sunset…and they announced their 10 week pregnancy at dinner!! Also, congrats to the big cuz and “Peasley” on their recent engagement. Congrats to my lil cuz out in NY, who very recently revealed her pregnancy!! And last but not least, welcome back home “Saac”, one of my closest road dogs since elementary school, who just returned back to his wife from Afghan. Their baby is due next month!!!

Here are a few pics from the O’side wedding…check out that breathtaking sunset!

Man, WTF is up with all these weddings and babies?! Not that I’m super old at 26, but man…it’s just that every time I hear news along these lines, it adds to that “damn-I’m-getting-old-syndrome”. Anybody feel me on that, or am I trippin’? No offense to all the older folks, but FUCK, I’m nearing 30!! I still feel like I’m 16!! Is that bad? Hahaha…

So yea…that pretty sums up what’s been going on in mi vida loca. About the 4 new designs that are out…they’ll be up in our webstore this week. If you forgot, or haven’t seen em yet…check 3 blog entries back!

Peace, “BK”

Oh, and check out this picture that I took downtown of a failed business…only in LA…”MK TACO”…get your Mexican, Korean, AND Chinese fast food…OH, don’t forget about the teriyaki! Hahaha…
