That reminds me, we need to “renovate” the webstore already.  Unfortunately, these beautiful look books aren’t for public distribution, but the webstore will pretty much use the same layout.

So life is good…the weather’s warming up again, Lebron’s killin’ it, and SP is steady movin’…

Has the weather been nice or what?!  Its been a tad bit windy on occasion, but we’ve been getting some serious summer weather over the past week and a half, or so.   We’ve had a steady 80-85 degrees all over Socal.   Shorts and an SP t-shirt in the middle of January??  Its a beautiful thing.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to hit the beach, but I won’t complain for the sake of all you folks out there experiencing ICE cold weather. I’m hearing some pretty horrible things from friends out of state, particularly in the eastern region. Negative temperatures with snow and what not??  Stay warm guys…

Check out what my truck recorded the other day while driving down to Orange County…

Anyways, I apologize for the long wait between posts.  I’m in the process of switching my internet service and I haven’t had any internet in my home for over a week!  It will be back on soon, so stay tuned!

Earthquake!

I guess it’s not a big deal living in Southern California, but I thought I’d share it with y’all anyway. It wasn’t nearly as violent as the one that hit Chino Hills last summer, but it shook us pretty hard for a few seconds. It actually happened during the homie’s graduation ceremony, last night in Riverside (just a few miles from the epicenter). Congratulations Rico!! What a grad gift haha.

Here’s the LA Times article:

Magnitude 4.5 quake felt across Southern California

By David Kelly and Jia-Rui Chong

January 9, 2009

The temblor, centered about a mile south of San Bernardino, caused no major damage, authorities said.

An earthquake estimated at magnitude 4.5 centered about a mile south of San Bernardino jolted Southern California on Thursday evening but caused no major damage, according to authorities.

The quake was felt just before 8 p.m. in downtown Los Angeles, parts of the High Desert, San Pedro and coastal and inland Orange County, but not as far south as San Diego.

“It was a hard jolt that lasted no more than five to eight seconds,” said San Bernardino Fire Department spokesman Steve Tracy. “There were some minor cracks in the concrete, one lady’s roof suffered slight damage, there was damage to some walkways but nothing major.”

U.S. Geological Survey seismologist Lucy Jones said the quake appeared to strike near the northern end of the San Jacinto fault, which is considered part of the San Andreas fault system. It was initially reported as magnitude 5.0 but was soon downgraded.

The temblor was comparable to the 1988 Pasadena earthquake and about 25 times smaller than the Chino Hills quake last summer.

“It’s the type of earthquake we used to have in L.A. every year in the ’80s,” Jones said. “After Northridge, it went quiet.”

Jones said a magnitude 3.3 aftershock occurred about an hour later.

As I was searching articles on this, I ran into some more quake news. Apparently a big one rattled Costa Rica yesterday (6.2 magnitude). There are 5 confirmed deaths and about two dozen persons missing, so lets hope for the best down there. Here is the link to the LA times article:

I watched Goapele from a distance, so this is the best shot I got…beautiful girl…beautiful voice…

And finally, the man of the hour, Mos Def…stepped out as the clock struck 12.  I never been a fan of homie like that, but it was a great show to say the least…

It’s 5am on Sunday morning and the end of my 5th night here in Frisco.  It’s been quite the week of partying and I think I’m ready to head home and rest my liver.  Fortunately, I’ll be hitting the road in a couple of hours and back on that 15 hour drive home to Los Angeles (and I won’t be driving :) .  Okay, more like 5 hours, but it does feel that way sometimes.

Whatever the case, happy 2009!  Best wishes to all in the new year.  Two thousand eight was a great one for Sanz Pareil and I only expect it to get better.  Count on it!!

I will be posting pictures from the Mos Def NYE party when I get back, so stay tuned.  Ah, and Goapele performed that night, too, by the way.  They were both DOPE.  I was a Goapele virgin before this show, but I became an instant fan.  She’s a local (Yay Area) R&B singer…very soulful…what I’d put under my Sunday playlist…shit you can just lay back and zone out to.

And Mos Def?  Need I waste my breath?

Peace, “BK”
