On November 29, 2008, Brandon was shot in the back and killed, after being robbed of his cell phone and Hieroglyphics sweater. This incident occurred at a local San Francisco music event at Golden Gate Park. He had momentarily left his friends to grab his cell phone from his car, when gun shots were heard. He was found stripped of his sweater and shot in the back…just ONE fatal shot…Brandon was barely 20 years old…

He had recently moved up there from his San Diego home, away from his mother and brothers to study music. I actually met his mother at the recent Souls of Mischief show, where they dedicated a small segment to Brandon and to help raise the awareness of violence in our society. Apparently, they’ve been working close with her in support of this situation. Here, his mother speaks on how we need to educate our youth, in order to put an end to this perpetuating cycle of violence.

What up internet world? If you haven’t noticed by now, we gave our website a fresh new look…it’s nothing crazy, but the shit is lookin’ saucy! Take a minute to browse through and peep the changes. 03.09.09 R.I.P. B.I.G.

So Opto (Optimus) has been working with Onyx for some time, on their new album, “Black Rock”. They performed the first single, “Blinded By The Light”, along with a couple throwbacks including “SLAM”, at Club Highlands this past Saturday. The sound was horrible (mics sounded like shit), but hey, it was Onyx.
