This is the second time, since the launch of this blog, that I am writing about such a destructive and tragic earthquake. The first one happened nearly two years ago in China. A magnitude 8 earthquake resulted in 50,000+ casualties, about 250,000 injuries, and almost 5 million people homeless. Not to mention, the school buildings that collapsed, burying and killing children instantly.

Well, just yesterday, a magnitude 7 earthquake hit the coast of Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere. The horrific details and death toll numbers are obviously still unclear at this point, but the tragic event has most certainly resulted in severe damage and casualties, especially in the city of Port Au Prince. The footage being shown in news reports is heart wrenching, as expected. I couldn’t even imagine experiencing such terror…….and I live in Southern California?

PLEASE text the word “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross, or text “YELE” to 501501 to donate $5 to Wyclef Jean’s Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund. I know we’re broke these days, but skip a meal and lend a hand if you can. It’ll be charged to your cell phone bill.

Peace, “BK”
